Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"Before participating in the Coalition's Technology Pilot Project, we didn't have any computers, we just had books. Now, the students are excited. They're whizzing through lessons; they didn't whiz through the books as much as now. I've personally noticed that the learning gain levels have gone up one grade level. I know that technology has been a major impact on this community and on this organization."

-Kathy Allison, Executive
Director United for Better Living, Technology Pilot Project participant, 2016 -2017)

A literacy educator from Erie Neighborhood House shared that one student had a diagnosis of diabetes prior to the program. After completing the Health Literacy classes, he began to change his diet and exercise regimen, and after a check-up with his doctor, he reported that he no longer needs to take insulin or medication.

"[The Coalition] is always ready to stand up for our community. They make sure that our voices are heard within the government."
Daniel Loftus,
Executive Director, Poder
