Program Overview
Launched in 2016, CAL provides comprehensive career readiness training to immigrants seeking to advance their career or enter the U.S. workforce for the first time. Learners are enrolled in CAL through a one-to-one intake process to assess and identify skills, goals, and needs. This information is used to develop a strategy for each person, which may include a match to a mentor in his or her field of interest, or a referral to local providers of training or professional education, to supplement the career support available through CAL.
Note: During COVID-19 all groups will be held online.
Through CAL, learners participate in 15-week Career Groups, which offer one-on-one resume and cover letter writing support, mock interview practice, job search guidance and community referrals. This extensive approach to career-readiness empowers our learners to take full advantage of their professional potential. As more than 60% of our learners hold an advanced degree from their home country, the CAL program meets a real local need to advance the potential of these highly skilled workers to expedite their entry into the workforce. In the past year, 62 learners have utilized CAL to help them achieve their employment goals.
