Program Overview
We offer ESL classes in eight different levels. Classes are offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings at four sites in San Rafael. Most classes meet two days per week, two hours per day. Most classes are during the week, but we have Saturday classes too.
We also offer computer classes (in Spanish) plus citizenship classes (in Spanish and English).
Canal Alliance is a multi-service nonprofit serving the local immigrant community. We offer counseling and advocacy, immigration legal services, therapy, youth educational development, and other services in addition to adult education classes in ESL, computers, and citizenship. Staff are bilingual in English and Spanish.
Most of our teachers and all of our instructional aides are volunteers. The large majority of teachers have been certified as ESL instructors and adhere to professional standards of pedagogy.

Cost Info
Standard fee for fall and spring terms: $50 for 15 weeks of instruction, four hours per week, with books included. Standard fee for summer term: $30 for 8 weeks of instruction, four hours per week, with materials included. Some classes are cheaper. A sliding scale is available for those who cannot afford the full fee.Education services
