Program Overview

Brazos Valley Literacy Coalition (BVLC) pairs trained volunteers with adults who want to learn to read or to improve their reading. BVLC also provides ESL classes to adults. BVLC provides training in early literacy development to caregivers, parents, and other early educators of young children. BVLC holds several family literacy events throughout the year with free books to the children and have literacy-related crafts and multilingual story-times. BVLC supports and publicizes all free literacy programs in the seven county Brazos
Valley area of Texas. BVLC brings awareness of the literacy needs in our local community. We seek to streamline and unify literacy services within the Brazos Valley. The program was originally started in 2012 with a grant from Mrs. Barbara Bush. We are a 501C3 nonprofit.
