This story was written nearly 10 years ago by a Club member who is now a volunteer with our basketball program. He recently found it and provided a copy to the Club to use as a success story highlighting the impact of the Club.
The Boy's Club is a very special place to me because my dad and my uncle both played on this court. Also my grandad coached in this gym for 9 years. I love and respect these people very much. Because of what they learned in sportsmanship, attitude, and being competitive, they have passed these things down to me. Because of what they believed and learned, I want to learn to be like them. They have taught me many things but more importantly, to play hard, clean and to have fun through competition. The Boy's club and the leaders and the refs, teach every player fairness, and a person can use these things the rest of their life. Some of the best friends that I have, I have met through the programs at the Boy' club. I believe that a strong family like, a good church, and I believe that the Boy's Club builds strong people. I respect the leaders of the Boys Club and what they are teaching. I will use their leadership to become a leader.
