Program Overview

The BCNC Adult Education program prepares adult immigrant learners with the education, training, and guidance needed to enroll in post-secondary education and job training, leading to employment at family-sustaining wages. Our goal is to provide 300 adults each year with career and educational pathways they need to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency in the United States. Our students come from all over the world, including China, Haiti, Vietnam, Morocco, El Salvador, Brazil, Ethiopia, Colombia, and Cape Verde.

English classes require three days of attendance each week, Tues-Thurs mornings 10:00-12:30 or evenings 6:00-8:30. In our hybrid setup, Tuesday and Thursday classes are onsite (in classroom), Wednesday classes are remote (on Zoom). Students will also have homework of about 2.5 hours per week outside of class time. Classes run September-June each year. Students may also be admitted in January and April if seats are available. Most of our classes have waitlists.

Students enrolled in classes may also have individual tutoring (free of charge, through volunteers) outside of regular class time.

Citizenship preparation classes are held on a different schedule; call for details.

Cost Info

Most programming is free. Citizenship class is free, with a charge for the textbook (ca. $50).
