Student and Volunteer Success Stories
Blue River Career Programs - Adult Education's April Success Story
As of March 23, 2018, Drake Dazzo is a High School Equivalency (HSE) graduate of Blue River Career Programs. Blue River offers free HSE and ELL classes for student ages 16-adult. Drake is a new resident of the State of Indiana. He completed his diploma in seven weeks and two days
after his 23rd birthday.
When he was a high school student, he did not have the drive or motivation to do homework or school projects. This resulted in him failing out of high school after nine semesters. Over the last five years, he has held various jobs in multiple employment fields.
Interviewer: "How has not graduating on time affected you?"
Drake: "I realized that not having a high school diploma was holding me back from getting better employment and advancement."
Interviewer: "How has your class from Blue River Career Programs education helped you?"
Drake: "Working here on my HSE has boosted my confidence and my abilities to regain writing and math skills. It painted a clearer picture for life goals and my outlook for my future."
Interviewer: "Drake, what does the future hold for you now that have earned a HSE diploma?"
Drake: "I'm currently working at Ryobi and planning on taking a certification class which will be determined after I do some Trial Work Experience with WorkOne Shelbyville to broaden my career choices."
Interviewer: "The best to you in broadening your career choices and thank you for your time.
