Program Overview
Beat the Streets, Inc. is a nonprofit resource center founded in 2005 to motivate young adults to achieve a high school diploma, seek higher education, and gain willful employment. The organization was formed to provide educational and
employment resource services to young adults ages 14-26 at no charge, as a way to increase the number of high school graduates and the number of employed young adults.
Beat the Streets, Inc. aims to provide resources and support services in education to ensure young adults complete their
high school education or GED, attain the desire and ability to attend college, provide computer knowledge and experience, as well as to train them how to study and apply themselves in college. Vocational services are provided on how to seek
employment, prepare a resume, as well as prepare for an interview, which are all vital to successful employment endeavors
Educational support services are provided to maintain
developmental skills through the use of educational opportunities and support systems that enrich knowledgeable and productive youth and young adults. To develop a course of action for their futures through the guidance of the
following services:
- Computer Training
- Tutoring
- Mentoring
- Assist with college applications and scholarship requirements
- GED preparation assistance
- Drop-Out prevention seminars
- College recruitment seminars
job counseling and job training to unemployed and underemployed persons, persons with disabilities, and persons who have job market disadvantages due to the lack of education, skill, or experience. The following services provide
nourishment to:
- Career assessment
- Resume assistance
- Employment referrals
- Job interview preparation
- Dress for success seminars
Life skill services are formulated to provide youth and young adults with the knowledge to make sound decisions and judgments and better plan for future achievements. Through comprehensive guidance and support, youth are prepared to make the appropriate decisions that influence the rest of their lives, as with the following:
- Planned parenthood seminars
- Drug prevention seminars
- Health & wellness education seminars
We are located in the Somersville Professional Plaza at 2400 Sycamore Dr #8, off of the Auto Center Drive exit.
