The Barrow Book Partnership is comprised of several agencies in Barrow County, most notably the Barrow County School System, Piedmont Regional Library System, Family Connection, Barrow County Health Department, Barrow Medlink, Winder Pediatrics, and Barrow Community Foundation. Library and school staff and volunteers distribute free books and library information. The program's mascot is B.B. Birdie, a small stuffed bird that is a reading buddy for the kids.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories
During class, a mother shared with other participants about going to Zoo Atlanta with the passes she had checked out with her new library card. I've had parents share with the other class members in many classes about attending library storytimes, and how much fun it was. When I ask, "Did you check out some books while you were there?" The resounding answer is, "Yes!" Some parents say, "I even found a book for me," or "I found a DVD for us to watch as a family."
I had a Mom in search of books about trains because, "that's all my son wants to read." She didn't have a library card, but completed an application. Mom said they have 4 children with their youngest of 6 months. Mom was absolutely thrilled when she saw her BBP bag with the mini-board book. Mom said, "My daughter can hold this!"
I started reading a story to some kids, but by the end of it they were the ones reading it to me. The mom of one of the kids didn't realize her son could get so excited about books, so she signed up for a library card even though she had initially declined.
