Program Overview

Dear students, parents and guardians,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! It seems like forever since we have been able to have a normal functioning school year post pandemic. As the new Director of the Bangor Career Academy, it is my pleasure to offer you the following educational opportunities: Alternative Education, Virtual Schooling, GED, and Adult Education. There are a number of reasons students and parents may choose a non-traditional educational setting and our purpose is simple: ensuring the physical, emotional and academic well-being of every student who walks through our doors, both in person and virtual.

Our students create personalized educational experiences (EDP's) where they must "own" their individual plan for success; they are guided and supported throughout this process by a caring and respectful staff member. BCA uses the Apex Learning software for 6-12th grade students and the SchoolsPLP platform for k-5th grade students which encompasses Lincoln Learning, Bright Thinker and eDynamic Learning curriculum options.

Parent involvement is a vital key to students' academic success. We encourage parents to monitor student progress regularly via email or phone calls, and to keep in regular contact with Lab Supervisors, Success Coaches, and Teacher of Records. Parents are welcome to set up appointments to meet with me and discuss the progress of their students.
