Program Overview
Our Adult Education programs help increase employability by improving basic literacy skills. Educational programs include three levels of adult basic and secondary skills classes. In collaboration with the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) we implement a curriculum which introduces students to 16 Career Clusters and the pathways necessary to enter these fields. The curriculum is customized based upon specific student interest, and incorporates career exploration, career planning, and understanding of workforce culture. We integrate financial literacy into education classes based on a curriculum designed to help low-income individuals outside the financial mainstream enhance their financial skills and create positive budgeting approaches. Our Technology Center offers computer literacy classes to prepare adults for the modern workforce by teaching basic/intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills, as well as internet usage. Our tech-based pre-employment services help individuals to develop resumes, fill out online job applications, set up email accounts and learn best practices for online job searching.Education services
