Program Overview

One of the features of the year-long leadership program is the Leadership Book Club. The book club promotes the reading of two books. Each book assists the participants in the understanding of leadership in the workplace and in character building. The participants then engage in presentations via PowerPoint to share best practices along with details of how they will implement what they have learned in order acquire leadership roles in their chosen profession or embark on entrepreneurial endeavors. One of the books used is the book The Influencer: The New Science of Leading Change co-written by several bestselling authors.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Mr. Rashid was a participant of the 2022 ASPIRE program. Throughout his participation, one of the highlights of his interaction with the program was the Leadership Book Club. Mr. Rashid engaged in book discussion utilizing the book The Influencer. Mr. Rashid in the same year enrolled in the Ohio Health Chaplaincy Residency Program. The program also participated in a leadership book discussion which included The Influencer as the book of choice. Mr. Rashid felt equipped to engage in discussion and critical thinking within the group's breakout sessions due to his experience in the ASPIRE program. Mr. Rashid graduated from the Ohio Health Chaplaincy Residency Program, becoming the first Muslim Chaplain in Ohio Health.
