Program Overview

For more than 50 years, Alamance Community College (ACC) has offered free adult literacy classes. Our classes include basic reading and math, GED and other High School Equivalency options, and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Classes meet mornings, afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, and through distance options at locations all across Alamance County, North Carolina. We are also an official GED and HiSET testing site. Our program offers high school equivalency test fee scholarships to qualified students, and graduates of our program all receive one free college class at ACC.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Quote from a recent graduate: "Thank you for providing me the financial backing for the [GED] test fees. My family is a one income family and without your program none of this would be
possible. I am so excited about my future and furthering my education at the college. Now with your help my career goals are possible. Not only do I want to thank you but my family does as well. "
