Program Overview

Reading is more than just recognizing words on a page—it's about understanding, expression, and confidence. Our free creative literacy workshops use the power of theater to help children build essential literacy skills in an engaging and supportive environment.

Through acting exercises, communication exploration, and audition techniques, participants will strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, and speech while also developing confidence in their own voices. By stepping into different roles and bringing stories to life, children not only improve their literacy skills but also discover the joy of storytelling and healthy self-expression.

Led by experienced educators and theater professionals, this program has helped many young readers become stronger, more engaged learners. Parents have seen their children gain greater fluency, enthusiasm for reading, and a newfound ability to speak and perform with confidence. Volunteers will be on hand to support the learning process, ensuring that each child gets the encouragement they need.

If you're looking for a creative way to help your child grow as a reader and communicator, this workshop offers a unique approach that blends literacy with the arts.

Spots are limited—join us and watch your child's love for reading come to life!

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

“My nephew found a new passion. Because of his disability, he is often disinterested in school. The acting, however, gave him a new outlet. He was able to perform at the festival and was thrilled. I am still in shock because I didn't realize the impact this experience would have on him. I am an educator and well aware of the challenges that parents have finding quality (affordable) activities. This program provided both." - Beth, POWER P. A. C. Summer Enrichment Camp Guardian

“I like that everyone had fun. I learned about non-verbal communications and there are different ways to communicate. I also learned that I am not shy. I don't need to be and relationships are important to us! The sessions were fun." - Brenda, Middle School Participant, Creative Wellness | Theatrical Wellness Program

“I learned not to be scared to express yourself. I can improve by getting along with people more. I would like to learn how to do things new." - Ricardo, Middle School Participant, Creative Wellness | Theatrical Wellness Program

Kris B., PA native who played the lead role of J-Giggy in the PA State Museum production of “They Live in You"
