Program Overview
Our After School Program (ASP) provides a safe space for SCN students to build academic, creative, and social-emotional skills. ASP enrolls students between the grades of K-6th. We provide transportation to and from the program each day to ensure that no barriers prevent our students from obtaining support after school.
Student and Volunteer Success Stories
A quote from long time volunteer, now staff member, Amanda:
"I was active in Arab American activist work in college, and this program was a direct way to do something within the current political system. I could take physical steps towards something I care about. There is something about looking at a student and realizing what an amazing trajectectory they are on, and at SCN's After School Program we get to witness that growth from year to year.
I want to see the Arab American community be healthy and happy and do well in the United States, a place that is supposed to be a place for immigrants to find home. Many immigrants come to the USA and become disenfranchised, and through this program I get to support students that identify with the Syrian community, too. I know the students might experience things that I experienced growing up, and now that I am through those experiences, I want to ensure these kids have the skill sets I wish that I had to get through those experiences."
