Program Overview

ALI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education instruction, motivation, and mentoring to under-educated/underprivileged adult individuals in the DFW.

Our primary focus is to assist individuals ages 17-35 that did not graduate high school by offering a 3-6 month alternative program that allows students to earn their Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE - formally GED).

ALI helps students develop a personalized learning plan in each of the core subjects: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. This unique program outline helps motivate students to complete the program. We also offer a variety of wrap-around support services for students upon graduation such as help with college enrollment, financial aid form assistance, and employment resources.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Missy,

a native from New Orleans, LA displaced after Hurricane Katrina she made Dallas her new home. She has faced many positions in life not just barriers when it comes to education. Missy had to face harsh realities that the previous GED she received from New Orleans Academy was fake. Finding out in the worst possible way; at an enrollment orientation she left the college completely disappointed. Hurt and distraught she went on the path to seek ways to redeem her self and continue her educational journey. Missy cried in just knowing she already had to start her life over after the hurricane; and now she must start again with trying to secure a certified high school credential. Missy stumbled upon ALI with a sour taste in her mouth. After being assured her credential would be accepted everywhere, she decided to join the program. Missy received her High School
Equivalency Diploma in just 3 short months. Since graduating she has enrolled in Dallas County Community College with full financial aid benefits. Studying to get her Associates Degree in Social Services, she plans to enter a four-year university to receive her Bachelor's. Brittany has also secured full-time employment at a local call center making $15.00 an hour. All of which would not have been possible without her HSE Diploma. Missy has become one of the leading faces of ALI because she was so happy with the results she received. Find out more about Missy on our website at http://www.alihsedu.org
