Program Overview
Adventure Risk Challenge (ARC) was founded in 2004 as an Outdoor Education program dedicated to providing life-changing opportunities for underserved and English Learner high school students in Northern and Central California. Our mission is to empower underserved youth, through literacy and wilderness programming, to make change in their lives and communities. Participants are selected for their leadership potential and their lack of access to meaningful experiences in the outdoors. ARC's innovative year-round programming improves academic skills in writing, reading, public speaking and Environmental Science, and exposes youth to a range of outdoor adventures. Our approach instills the confidence students need to envision and accomplish goals, succeed in high school, attend college, and become engaged, empowered citizens. Through engagement in our program, youth experience significant growth in positive self-identity and a commitment to learning. 97% of our alumni graduate on time from high school, and 83% attend college.
Cost Info
