Program Overview

Corazon a Corazon was founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in South Chicago in 2002. As life long educators dedicated to helping the poor, our mission began as a response to an unmet need for literacy services that immigrant women and their children need in order to overcome poverty and diminished quality of life.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

This year, one of our adult literacy learners enrolled in our ESL program, with our assistance, was able to learn the civics, reading, and writing portions of the USCIS citizenship interview and exam. She passed her USCIS citizenship interview and exam and has taken the full oath of allegiance. She inspired others in our ESL, and her life has transformed for the better thanks to the space we provide.
