Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"You know, when I came here, I could not speak (English) at all. Now I can go to job interviews."

-Qiwei Ling, level 4 student Bachman Lake.

"One of my Fall semester attendees, Mena Douglas, discussed his goal of improving his English language skills in order to expand his house cleaning business. His objectives were to better communicate in English with his employees and clients in order to increase his clientele. Needless to say, as the semester progressed his lists of clients grew, he had more confidence while speaking with clients and relied less on language translator applications. I'd like to think that the Dallas Public Library ESL program had a hand in helping Mena Douglas reach his entrepreneurial goals."

- Samaria McCoy, Bachman Lake English Instructor
