Program Overview

If you: reside in Lafayette County, are 18 years or older, don't attend school, and want to get your GED or need help reading then The Lafayette County Literacy Council's ABLE program can help!
Follow these steps to become an ABLE Learner:
You will attend a welcome interview in the Jean Holley room upstairs at the Lafayette County and Oxford Public Library. Welcome interviews are held on the first Saturday of every month, 10am-1pm, and the third Monday of every month, 4pm-7pm. Bring proof of Lafayette County residency (a document with your name and address on it — like a utility or cable bill). There is a one-time $15 registration fee. This welcome interview helps the program coordinator decide what materials will be used to help you reach your goals. You will receive an orientation at the welcome interview.

The program offers one-on-one coaching to adult residents of Lafayette County who are 18 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school.
The program trains community volunteers to serve as coaches who are matched with adult learners in Adult Basic Education (ABE) or GED preparation.
