6 by 6 Ready to Read: Six Skills by Six Years

Program Overview

"6 by 6 Read to Read: Six Skills by Six Years" is the Johnson County (KS) Library's early literacy initiative. Based on recommendations from the Association for Library Service to Children and the Public Library Association, Johnson County Library has identified six skills we believe every child should have experience with by their sixth birthday -- six skills by six years. We integrate these six skills into our storytimes, caregiver workshops, and early literacy activity spaces at all 14 of our branch libraries.

The Library also offers a robust set of additional learning services including:

--online writing assistance
--Conversational English & ELL programs
