Program Overview

YouthBASE is a free afterschool and
summer program that provides early intervention to children with the goal of
increasing each child's positive behavior and academic success. K5-2nd graders
who are below grade level and need extra support are referred by teachers,
assessed and enrolled. YouthBASE assists children in attaining foundational
basic skills to achieve grade level success in ELA and math. Children enrolled
in program participate in social skills, academic, arts and field trip
activities (Beyond the Walls). Beyond the Walls activities are high yield
learning experiences that support the BASE (behavioral, academic, social and
emotional). In addition, to child involvement YouthBASE has a FamilyBASE
program that conducts Parent Café/Café de Madres and Family Nights. Parents are encouraged to attend. Parent Cafe
utilizes the research based Strengthening Families Approach through the SC
Children's Trust. Family Nights are designed to promote family learning and
time together, includes dinner and a literacy, math, science or game night
theme. The FamilyBASE programs are offered to the community as well as families
with children enrolled in YouthBASE.

FamilyBASE provides English classes for adults.
