We offer classes fall and spring (12 week semesters) Monday thru Thursday (morning, afternoon) and Tuesday/Thursday evening). We offer multiple levels of ESL for adults and during morning and afternoon classes we have an early childhood program for the young children (ages 4 months to 5 years) of our adult students. Daytime students come 4 days a week and evening students come 2 days a week.
The mission of Literacy Achieves is to equip non-English speaking adults and their young children with English literacy and life skills to promote self-sufficiency and the overall well-being of our students, their families and the greater community.
Hours of operation: 9:00-11:00am, 12:30-2:30pm (Monday-Thursday) and 7:00-8:45pm (Tuesday/Thursday)
Cost info: Classes are free but students are asked to pay $35 for books.
Student and Volunteer Success Stories
My number one goal in life is to get a good job where I can help my family – somewhere I can be confident with my English. Growing up in Mexico I never went to school – the school was very far away and my father said it was too dangerous for us to walk there. I came to Literacy Achieves to learn English. I have one daughter – she is 3 ½ years old and she loves coming to school with me. She and I learn English together – she helps me and I help her. My favorite thing about Literacy Achieves is the teachers – they are always available to answer our questions and they are so patient with us. They really help us learn! - Maria, student at Literacy Achieves
