Program Overview
We offer free tutoring to adults 17 and older who have been out of school at least one year. Our tutors are dedicated to help fight illiteracy. We serve clients in Union County MS and surrounding counties. The Council has been in existence since 1985 and many adults have been helped. Our tutors and volunteers are dedicated to help fight illiteracy.
Mission Statement
The Union County Literacy Council is dedicated to help those adults who want to better themselves and learn to be independent and able to function in a literate world.
Hours of operation: Tuesday 11 A.M.-12 1 P.M.-4 P.M Thursday 10 A.M.-12 1 P.M-4 P.M.
Program’s Demographics/Metrics
Our program serves adults 17 and above who have been out of school at least one year. We have tutored adults who are at least 17 and have tutored adults up to age 80 and above. The racial makeup includes African Americans, Caucasians, and Hispanics.
