Program Overview

Innovations for Learning is a national nonprofit, founded in 1993. The flagship program, TutorMate, matches volunteer tutors from local corporations and government agencies with first grade students to boost early grade literacy. Unlike traditional on-site tutoring programs, TutorMate connects tutors and students through a remote online connection and a shared storyboard for a powerful 30-minute interactive session each week throughout the school year. Tutors can connect with students from their office, home, or virtually anywhere with Internet access, providing a simple and meaningful opportunity for a volunteer to change a child's life.

Mission Statement

Innovations for Learning's mission is to help primary grade teachers be more effective in their pivotal task of teaching students to read.
