Program Overview

The Salvation Army offers shelter and a path to a new life through the Back to Work program, a housing program that helps homeless men get their lives on the right track. During this six month program the men are provided reliable shelter, beds are reserved for the participants so they can work and know they have a bed to sleep in each night. Participants are required to attend a series of Bible classes and Celebrate Recovery meetings during the first 30 days and save 50% of their gross salary. Home Bank, Iberia and Teche Bank work with program participants to open the savings accounts. Many Back to Work participants are from Acadiana and they often return to their families upon graduating from the program.
