Program Overview

Southern Tier Traveling Teacher, Inc. (STTT) provides one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction in Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency Preparation to disadvantaged youth and adults ages 16 and above. STTT provides these services in-home, at libraries and at literacy centers, depending on the needs of the individuals. These services are especially helpful to disadvantaged students who lack transportation and/or child care and can't make it to center based programs. STTT was incorporated as a Not-for-Profit organization in 1984. These services were and still are needed due to the rural area in which we reside. Services are provided throughout all of Allegany County, NY. Last program year, STTT helped nearly 30 students obtain their NYS High School Equivalency Diploma and many more to improve their reading, math and writing skills along with assistance in job readiness and job seeking. STTT is an affiliate of Literacy New York, Inc. and has consistently achieved good report cards through the NYS Education Department.
