Program Overview

The Rosamond Adult Literacy Program offers free tutoring help to adults with the following skills: reading and writing English, reading a newspaper, ESL, DMV, Citizenship, Bible Literacy, Bible study skills, Bible memorization, job applications, menu reading, English conversational skills, and payment of bills. We also help newly widowed ladies:understanding of insurance bills, bill payment, life skills, and check writing. Other skills as requested if tutors are available. All tutors are volunteers. We are an unfunded program. Tutors are unpaid. A six month commitment is required for all learners, with lessons one day per week of two hours each meeting. Each adult learner commits to purchase books and materials in cash from the program tutor. Appropriate attire, and calling 24 hours ahead to cancel is necessary.Homework is voluntary but will greatly enhance the learning and shorten the time necessary to complete the program. We have served people from eleven different nations. We also welcome new tutors who are willing to volunteer their services one day per week minimum with a two hour min. learning session. Our training program is required before being assigned to a learner.

Hours of operation: To be Arranged by the tutor and learner.

Cost info: Tutoring hours are free of charge. There is a small cost to the adult learner for books or materials: usually about $15.00 per book.
