The mission of RISE is to build and support community-wide literacy by equipping preschoolers and their families with fundamental tools used in the development of English vocabulary, the ability to read and write and the capacity to think creatively. RISE has been developed as an early/pre-literacy program by early childhood educators, speech/language pathologists and an audiologist. Last year, during the 2013 year, RISE served 2095 children in fourteen Denver locations. Most classes meet for an hour and a half once per week, and are comprised of two community volunteer teachers and 8-15 children, ages 3-5. RISE staff provide training and supervision for the volunteers and regularly visit to provide feedback and technical assistance. Volunteers provided 2019 hours of service through out the year.
Hours of operation: 8:30-5:00 pm
