With the mission statement "helping hurting people in Jesus' name," the Rescue Mission is a comprehensive crisis intervention center for men, women and children. Rescue Mission services include: hospitality dining room; emergency shelter; clothing assistance; medical, psychiatric, dental and vision care; a grocery box distribution program for low-income families; a residential recovery program; a residential job skill program for the chronically homeless; an adult education center; a legal clinic; case management services; and specifically for children, field trips, chapel, and after school activities during the school year and Jubilee Acres Day Camp during the summer.
The Rescue Mission's Adult Learning Center is available for men and women in residential programs. Program participants must initially take an assessment test so the Mission knows where they are reading level-wise and grade level-wise. Volunteer tutors work with students in a wide variety of subjects like math, English, foreign languages, etc. Computers are available for keyboard classes and to complete assignments. Participants also have the option of studying and taking the GED test, if they desire.
