Training – Our Executive Director, Amy Anderson Miller is also a member of ProLiteracy and a certified trainer for Basic and ESL support. Free trainings are provided on a regular basis. Basic Literacy - All Basic Literacy tutoring is one-on-one. (ESL)English as Second Language – an important part of READ is the Plaza Latina of Jackson County. In keeping with READ’s mission, this agency provides one-on-one tutoring, Plaza Comunitaria web learning, Rosetta Stone, group conversation classes, and also sponsors “Working For Our Dreams” Jackson County’s first Spanish-centered 4-H troop. Pre-GED and GED – We provide tutoring for those enrolled at the JCLC for GED. We tutor for both the Spanish and English GED’s. Family Literacy/ School Programs – Throughout Jackson County, we provide tutoring during the school year with in the schools, as well as after-school homework help. READ TO ME hosts reading classes, in the county libraries and schools, that encourage family reading time. Community Book Sales – On the second FRIDAY of each month RJCPL hosts a Community Book Sale. Hundreds of books are FREE and all other books are always $1.00 or LESS! Annual Jackson County Book Drive – each September READ places RED TOTES throughout Jackson County for used book donations. Many of these books are recycled back out into Jackson County for FREE. !FREE BOOKS! – Each year at KIDSFEST and Downtown Trick or Treat RJCPL gives away free books to all participating children.
