New Hanover County Pre-Kindergarten is committed to creating a strong foundation that prepares all students for academic, social and emotional success as they enter the 21st century. We believe in creating a space where children can be inspired to learn while also serving their families and communities. We believe all children have individual worth and can thrive when given a positive environment in which to learn. Our classrooms are located in public schools, licensed child care centers and Head Start programs in New Hanover County. There are a total of ten pre-k sites serving approximately 900 students. These high quality classrooms have teachers certified in the education of children who are birth-kindergarten age. The student to staff ratio is one adult for every nine students. The maximum class size is 18 students with a teacher and a teacher assistant. Programs have a parent education component that requires attendance at parent workshops and monthly volunteer time in classrooms.
Hours of operation: 7:30 am-4:00 pm
