Middle Tyger Community Center (MTCC) is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization located in Lyman, SC which serves residents of Spartanburg County. The programs and services at MTCC focus on education by providing developmentally appropriate activities for children; Adult Education (including GED classes, Basic Literacy Classes, and ESOL classes for adolescents and adults); and Parenting and Healthy Lifestyle Classes. In addition, MTCC partners with other agencies to ensure that necessary resources for overall health and wellness are available for children and families. For example, as a United Way Agency, MTCC is a member of the Gifts In Kind Center, at which not-for-profit organizations can pay a nominal fee in order to receive weekly supplies that can be used to assist children and families in the community. Individual and family counseling is also available on-site at MTCC, with a Supervising Therapist who oversees counseling and therapy interns from local colleges. An average of twenty counselors and therapist interns are available at MTCC, allowing counseling to be readily available to anyone who needs it. MTCC strives to promote a community-minded approach to connect our children and families to educational opportunities and resources that can help them become active and valuable members of the community while developing their own potential for self-sufficiency.
