Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore CT, Inc.’s mission is to teach valley shore residents to read, write and speak English to improve their work and life skills. Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore CT Inc. (LVVS) provides tutoring services to students from 11 towns on the Connecticut shoreline from Guilford to Lyme. LVVS, Inc. was organized in 1979 and became an official affiliate in 1980. LVVS volunteers work to support the development and growth of a literate English proficient population, including Adult Basic Education/General Education Development (ABE/GED) and English as a Second Language (ESL). Since 1982, when we began keeping such records, our tutors have worked over 500,000 hours with students in our area. Our volunteers gave 13,800 hours (including tutoring) of time last year to supplement the work of our two part-time employees.
Hours of operation: 9 am - 2 pm , Monday through Friday
