Program Overview

The Literacy Council of Greater Waukesha (operating under the name GREATER WAUKESHA LITERACY) provides and advocates basic literacy skills and services to improve the quality of life of its learners and strives to be the premier resource in Waukesha Co. for promoting literacy, enriching lives and enhancing the community.

Founded in 1986, GWL provides one-on-one tutoring to individuals to improve their basic skills like reading, writing, math and English as a second language. We also help people prepare for their high school credential, citizenship, employment and advancement at work.

To promote reading, GWL celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday by distributing books and having volunteers read to children throughout Waukesha Co.
