Program Overview
WEC provides 11 levels of classes in English as a Second Language (ESL), from Basic through Advanced. We also offer Spanish literacy, citizenship and computer classes in Spanish and English. What makes WEC unique is the over 300 volunteers that serve as teachers and tutors each term. There is a small tuition fee that includes books but scholarships are also available to ensure all are able to attend, regardless of their ability to pay. ESL classes are based on real life activities and topics and each level has a strong workplace component. The curriculum is designed for students to actively take part in building a career and educational portfolios that highlight the pathways they need to follow to succeed to meet their employment and education goals.
