The Adult Education/Literacy Program offers free services to adults 16 years and older in the Iowa Central Community College area. Students must be 17 years or older to take the HiSET tests unless there is a court order.
Classes are offered on the Iowa Central Community College campus on the fourth floor of the Applied Science and Technology building. Classes are free and are offered both mornings and evenings, Mondays through Thursdays. Orientation is required prior to attending HSED and ESL classes. Call to register 515-574-1955. These services include the following:
HSED classes are offered in four counties. Students study with trained instructors to successfully complete the five HiSET subtest areas: Writing, Math, Literature, Science, and Social Studies. Students participate in Math, Writing, and Reading academies with targeted instruction for these subtests. Official HISET tests are administered in Fort Dodge, Webster City, and Storm Lake. Additional online study is available to students attending face-to-face classes.
English as a Second Language (ESL) non-credit classes are offered at three Iowa Central locations: Fort Dodge, Webster City, and Storm Lake. Adults whose first language is not English can study English to improve in the areas of reading, speaking, listening, and writing. Learners may also participate in an online study course. All levels of learners are welcome!

Cost info: Classes are free. $50 total cost for HSED testing fee. Paid prior to testing.
