Families Learning Together supports and encourages parents by providing opportunities to develop their potential and reach desired goals for themselves and their children. Our program offers parents a comprehensive program of basic education, parenting skills, involvement in their children's schools, and inter generational activities designed to encourage reading in the home. Families Learning Together believes that reading ignites the spark for a lifetime of discovery.
Our mission is to serve Fluvanna parents who have not
completed high school or who wish to learn to speak English by providing
opportunities to develop their potential and reach desired goals for themselves
and make a difference for their children.
We do this by offering adult education classes 3 days/week in which
adult learners receive instruction in English language acquisition, basic
academic skills which include reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar,
spelling, mathematics, and basic computer skills. Parenting tips and parent and child
intergenerational activities strengthen and encourage reading in the home.
Hours of operation: Tuesday/Thursday 9-2 and Wednesday 10-2
Cost info: Instruction and materials are provided free of charge to participants.
