English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes are available for adults who do not speak English as his/her native language. Interactive, small-group instruction emphasizes the essential skills of reading, writing and conversational English. Students will also learn about American culture and traditions.
Weekday classes are taught in collaboration with Lorain County Community College's ASPIRE program and require an orientation. They are taught classroom-style.
Saturday classes are taught by Oberlin College student volunteers and are operated on a drop-in basis. These classes are taught tutoring-style and focus on conversational skills.
El Centro is a Hispanic-Latino non-profit advocacy organization whose mission is to enhance the socio-economic status of the greater Lorain County community by providing essential social, educational, cultural and community development services.
Hours of operation: Monday and Wednesday from 6pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 1pm, Saturday from 12 noon to 2pm
While many of our students and teachers speak Spanish as well as English, we have ESOL students of many different language backgrounds. Come learn with us!
