Program Overview
The Learning Center, a program of Claymont Community Center offers affordable educational opportunities for students of all ages.
For grade school children, we offer after-school and summer tutoring in reading, writing, math, and SAT prep. Our program is geared toward building skills to bring students up to grade level and beyond.
Adult education programs include:1) ESL classes for foreign-born adults to learn how to read, write, and speak English. In addition, financial literacy, civics & citizenship skills, and workplace skills are integrated into the curriculum; 2) Adult Basic Education classes for adults who want to get a GED® or for those with a diploma but need to brush up on skills to prepare for college, a training program, or a job. Our ABE classes help you improve your skills in math, reading, writing, and computers and technology. They also help you gain workplace and job-seeking skills, as well as financial literacy.
