Program Overview

The purpose of the Books, Balls, & Hype Tutoring Program and Book Club (BBH) is to increase the literacy of skills, language development and college readiness of youth 4 – 18 years old, and adults. “Books, Balls, & Hype” Book Club and tutoring programs will engage youth and families in literary extensions, receive free books, and develop a strong family foundation in literacy. Our vision is to make “Book, Balls, & Hype Tutoring and Book Club a city-wide project in two years. Our holistic educational approach develops self- esteem and study skills in boys and young men. We believe reading is a family event. Many of our youth cannot read or are disinterested because they have no books in the home and their parents do not read. When youth arrive with parents we recruit them to participate as readers and have three parents that are learning to read.

Hours of operation: Saturday, 11am - 2pm

Cost info: Donations accepted. However, we turn no one away.
