Program Overview

The Amarillo Area Adult Literacy Council is a private community nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and advocating literacy throughout the Amarillo Area. The Amarillo Area Adult Literacy Council provides adults over the age of 18 the opportunity to increase their reading, writing, comprehension and math skills. Adult learners are able to learn specific skills needed to pass the GED Test. Tutors also work individuals on specific information needed to increase and improve income and employment levels. We provide support services and information to students wanting to pursue additional higher education, job training, and even citizenship. These services are provided by one of our trained volunteers.The Council provided one on one or small group tutoring sessions. Students are provided with instructional materials for their content are of study and tutoring free of charge. Amarillo Area Adult Literacy is located on Amarillo College's Washington Street Campus. Our office is in the Ware Student Commons Building on the third floor, office 307 D. Our phone number is 806-371-5084.

Hours of operation: Monday- Friday 8 am-5 pm

Cost info: Our tutoring and books are free of charge.
